If you're here, I'm guessing that you are new to the whole roleplaying scene. Good! I'll be glad to help. =] It isn't too hard to roleplay, honestly. In a nutshell, roleplaying consists of controller a character's actions. On this website, we are a "play-by-post" roleplaying game (RPG). That means writing out every action your character takes, and corresponding with a friend or another member of the site, and writing a story of sorts with your characters. Here is an example of a roleplay thread. [WARNING, the following posts are really short but within the 100 word minimum.]
Phoenix lifted his head from the soft grass, his eyes squinting shut with the sharp, bright rays of the sun. It was far too hot to be spring; who had decided on the weather today?! Shakily standing up, with disgust the tom noticed his sweat laden fur, and was far from looking forward to grooming. His stomach grumbling, the stubborn Persian male decided he would groom his long, moppy fur later and hunt for a light snack now. Trotting off in the direction of the wood, a foreign scent hit his nose, causing curiosity to rise in his stomach. "I wonder who that could be..." He purred, a smile playing across his lips.
So, say that was your post. Now, someone would reply with something like this...
Lily had had a crush on Phoenix for as long as she could remember. There was something about the carefree tom that just made her insides stir. He was so funny, and charismatic, and just a good time! The ginger queen stood, the rays of sun reflecting beautifully off her short, copper coat. She would go see him today, surely by now he was up and about. Stretching her long limbs, mewing with the pulling and releasing of tired muscles, the she cat began her trip in the direction she had last seen Phoenix. When his smell began to toy with her senses, she continued on a little faster, giggles emanating from her larynx. "Phoenix!" She chimed, running now, "Phoenix!" She could see his white body between the trees, and was seconds away from pouncing upon it.
Now that we have roleplaying out of the way, the next things I discuss will be in segments. Got it? Good!
ACTIVITY
It makes a site much more fun when you're active in it. Advertising, participating in contest, talking in the c-box, all these things will help you in nesting yourself comfortable into the website. If you need any help with things like this, don't be afraid to ask your friendly admin.
CHARACTER CREATION
Try to be unique, it will make your roleplay a lot more fun. There are tons of cat breeds to choose from, so don't be exclusive to one breed just because everyone knows it. If you don't know too much about cats, check our thread titled Need to Know Thread About Cats.
DON'T OVER-DO IT
You might think I'm joking, but I'm being quite serious. Don't overdo it. It can be easy to get into a lot of threads because you're excited about a new character and getting into the scene. Let me tell you, the amount of active threads I recommend per active character is only two, or three at the most. Muse can run out for a character and let me tell you, that is not fun. Just relax, you're not in a race to see who on FA can get the most posts. Besides, it's about quality, not quantity.
JUST HAVE FUN
Not to sound cliche, but this really is the most important rule. This site was built around fun, and if you're not having it then there is no point for you to even be here. Have fun, relax; if you feel like you're stressing out too much over a roleplay then just take a break. We'll always be here. ♥
